What supplies should I bring on my fishing charter?

  • Lunch or snacks and extra water – food is not provided
  • Your mandatory sport-fishing license.  Click here to get one.
  • Warm layers or extra warm clothes – it gets cold on the west-coast, even in the summer!
  • Sunscreen – it’s easy to get a sunburn while out on the water
  • A hat
  • Waterproof or close-toed shoes
  • Cooler or fish tote to transport your catch
Do I need a fishing licence to go sport-fishing?
  • The government of Canada requires ALL recreational fishers, including kids, to hold a “Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Licence” while they are fishing in ocean (tidal) waters.
Is it expensive to get a fishing license, and how long does it last?
  • You can buy a 1, 3 or 5-day sport-fishing licence, or an annual pass.
  • Licences are free for people under 16.
  • The price of all other licences depends on the adult’s age and place of residence, but a 1-day “Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Licence” with a “Salmon Conservation Stamp” (which is required to fish salmon) will cost under $20.00 CAD.
How do I get a sport-fishing license?

  • If it’s your first time getting a fishing license in Canada, click “Register Now”
  • Follow the steps to purchase a licence for the Pacific Region, and make sure to add a “Salmon Conservation Stamp” to your purchase.
