Carlos is from the Toquaht Nation, whose citizens have inhabited the west-coast of Barkley Sound for over 10,000 years. He spent four-years as a Toquaht Nation elected Councillor and was responsible for the Natural Resources Portfolio, giving him an intimate knowledge of Toquaht territory, local issues and of the Maa-nulth Treaty. He spent several years legally surveying Toquaht territory.
Carlos has extensive training and experience doing marine-based work, stream assessments and habitat restoration. A former white-water rafting, snowmobiling and canoe guide, he is passionate about giving visitors an authentic west-coast experience.
